FOREMAST had a presence at the TRA Conference

The Transport Research Arena (TRA) took place in Dublin, Ireland from 15-18 April 2024. With the theme “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility“, TRA2024 served as Europe’s foremost transport event, covering a wide range of transportation modes and aspects.

This conference was the largest gathering of researchers and technology experts in the region, attracting a diverse audience that included policymakers and industry professionals. Over 400 participants attended the event.

The primary objective of the conference was to delve into the potential of research and innovation in transforming transportation. It provided a valuable platform for gaining insights into mobility trends, showcasing industry achievements, and exchanging best practices in policy-making.

Throughout the entire week, FOREMAST took place at the PNO Consultants booth, offering participants the opportunity to explore the project from the informative new brochure.

FOREMAST highlighted its role in shaping the future of urban and coastal areas’ transportation during the special session 5.2: Decarbonizing Freight Transport and Logistics by Increasing the Use of Waterways.

Through a full room special session 5.2, we explored decarbonizing freight transport and logistics by boosting the use of waterways, with a focus on integrating autonomous vessels like those from the FOREMAST and AUTOSHIP projects.

The importance of inland waterway transport (IWT) and short sea shipping (SSS) in reducing carbon emissions was emphasized by our partner Jeanett Bolther from PNO Consultants during the session, aligning perfectly with the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy.
