FOREMAST to present two abstracts at CSuM 2026

FOREMAST is proud to announce that two scientific abstracts developed within the project have been accepted for presentation at the 8th International Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility (CSuM 2026), taking place 1-3 July 2026 in Skyros, Greece.

Led by Pauline Bernat and Charis Latinopoulos, from VLTN, our research team will showcase innovative approaches that support smarter, greener, and more efficient waterborne logistics – directly contributing to the project’s mission of advancing sustainable urban mobility across European inland waterways.

• BluePath: A Digital Twin-Enabled Model for Predictive Route Optimisation in Sustainable Urban Waterborne Logistics

Pauline Bernat, VLTN & Charis Latinopoulos, VLTN

This contribution introduces BluePath, an advanced digital twin-powered model designed to enhance predictive route optimisation for urban waterborne transport. By integrating real-time data with simulation capabilities, BluePath supports more efficient and resilient logistics planning—offering a powerful tool for cities seeking to shift towards low-emission, waterborne freight solutions.

• Intelligent Cargo Optimisation for Sustainable Inland Waterway Logistics

Pauline Bernat, VLTN & Charis Latinopoulos, VLTN

The second abstract presents a data-driven method for intelligent cargo allocation and capacity optimisation on inland waterways. The approach aims to maximise cargo efficiency while reducing emissions and operational constraints, helping cities and operators make informed decisions that align with sustainability and multimodality goals.

The participation of FOREMAST in CSuM 2026 reinforces the project’s commitment to contributing cutting-edge research to the sustainable mobility community. We look forward to engaging with international experts, sharing insights, and further strengthening collaborations within the field.
