FOREMAST Showcased at Millénaire Caen 2025 Maritime Weekend

From June 27 to 29, 2025, the FOREMAST was proudly showcased by our partner NEAC Industry during the Millénaire Caen 2025 Maritime Weekend, as part of an exceptional eight-day programme of events that brought together innovation, history, and community engagement in the heart of Caen.

Hosted by Caen Développement and Millénaire de Caen, the event featured a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere, with four intense days of outdoor activities under extreme heat. One of the highlights was the parade of rare and historic boats from France, Spain, and the Netherlands.

FOREMAST was presented at the Alexis de Tocqueville Library, where NEAC Industry – leader of the Living Lab Caen – shared a stand with the University and ENSICAEN research laboratory. This collaborative space provided a platform to showcase the project’s innovations and foster discussions with the public. Just outside, the NEAC boat was displayed along the waterfront, drawing in curious onlookers and facilitating meaningful engagement.

The public interest in the FOREMAST project was strong, particularly around sustainable transport solutions and the potential of inland waterways for urban logistics. While the concept of autonomous navigation sparked mixed reactions, it also highlighted the importance of fostering dialogue and building trust as society transitions toward smarter, greener mobility.

Beyond the exhibition space, the event offered hands-on, creative experiences for participants of all ages. A standout moment was the construction of a cardboard bridge and tower near Caen’s iconic castle – a symbol of collaboration and imagination. These structures were later relocated to the water near the NEAC boat, creating a striking visual where FOREMAST was framed between the cardboard castle and tower.

The success of this event further strengthens the visibility and relevance of the FOREMAST project in shaping sustainable urban mobility.
