FOREMAST brings zero-emission waterborne freight to the CIVITAS Forum 2026
FOREMAST was represented at the CIVITAS Forum 2026, held in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 15 to 17 September 2026. The Forum brought together cities, researchers and mobility practitioners to exchange ideas on more sustainable urban transport.
Andrea Hrzic from Magellan Circle and Charis Latinopoulos from VLTN presented FOREMAST in the Forum’s Urban Freight and Logistics thematic area. Alongside fellow projects DISCO, NEXTLOGIC, UNCHAIN, CodeZERO and GreenTurn, they exchanged ideas on making the movement of goods cleaner, more efficient and better integrated into city life.
FOREMAST’s concept for small, autonomous, zero-emission vessels drew interest from city representatives. Many asked about its potential use in coastal cities, opening discussions on how waterborne freight could help reduce road congestion and noise in different local settings. The team also shared project flyers and introduced visitors to FOREMAST’s work.
The conversations reflected the Forum’s 2026 theme of competitive, connected and resilient urban mobility. For FOREMAST, the event was an opportunity to bring waterborne transport into the wider discussion about the future of city freight.
