FOREMAST at Smart Rivers 2025

9 September 2025 | Memphis, Tennessee, USA

The Smart Rivers 2025 Conference in Memphis (Tennessee, USA) gathered more than 400 global experts in the field of navigable rivers. With more than 200 presentations, the event featured rigorous technical sessions, hands-on short courses, thoughtful keynote addresses, social events, and meaningful conversations across public, private, and academic sectors.

FOREMAST partner Marc Mansuy (University of Ghent) presented the paper “From full-scale trials to a simplified 3DOF manoeuvring model: enabling rapid assessment of SFAZ vessel performance”, written by Marc Mansuy, Guillaume Delefortrie, Maxime Candries, Inna Alliot-Polgoui, Alain Alliot, and Lionel Mesnil.

Marc’s presentation was delivered in the session titled “Digital Twins”: a 15-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A.

On the final day, some participants attended a technical visit onboard the MV Mississippi, the largest towboat of the United States Army Corps of Engineers on the Mississippi river.
