Deliverables
Below you can find a list of FOREMAST public deliverables, organised by each work package.
Deliverables
Work Package 1 — Project coordination and value propositions
This document presents the value proposition of the FOREMAST project, which aims to develop small, flexible, automated, and zero-emission vessels to shift urban freight from road to inland waterways. It outlines the techno-economic assessment, market analysis, cost optimisation, and evaluation of regulatory, safety, and environmental aspects to demonstrate the competitiveness and feasibility of these innovative vessels and support their validation in three European living labs.
Lead beneficiary: CIRCOE
DownloadWork Package 2 — Vessel design and propulsion
This document presents the design of the FOREMAST Class I SFAZ vessel, focusing on innovative hull configurations, fully electric propulsion, and advanced automation for sustainable urban freight transport. It describes the vessel design process, hydrodynamic simulations, manoeuvring model development, and energy management solutions that support efficient, low-emission operations and prepare the vessels for testing in the project’s living labs.
Lead beneficiary: NEAC Industry
DownloadWork Package 3 — Living Labs
The D3.1 Living Lab Belgium 1 describes the setup of the Ghent Living Lab within the FOREMAST project, where innovative technologies for small, sustainable inland vessels are tested in real operating conditions in the Ghent region. It focuses on addressing workforce shortages through automation while validating safe and efficient solutions for urban freight transport in a complex inland waterway environment.
Lead beneficiary: OHB
DownloadDeliverable D3.3 – Living Lab France v1 presents the setup and initial testing of the French Living Lab within the FOREMAST project. The document describes how Small, Flexible, Automated, Zero-emission (SFAZ) vessels are integrated into urban logistics along the Caen Canal, covering autonomous navigation, remote operation, sensor validation, and real-world data collection to support safe, efficient, and sustainable inland waterway transport.
Lead beneficiary: NEAC Industry
DownloadDeliverable D3.5 – Living Lab Romania v1 presents the first phase of the Romanian virtual Living Lab, focused on evaluating Small, Flexible, Automated, and Zero-emission (SFAZ) vessels for sustainable freight transport in the Danube Delta. The document introduces a digitally validated electric vessel design, simulation framework, and logistics scenarios while assessing the region's environmental, technical, and economic conditions to support sustainable inland waterway transport in this protected area.
Lead beneficiary: University of Galati
DownloadWork Package 4 — Adoption, regulation, and dissemination
Deliverable D4.1 presents a simulation framework to assess the adoption of Small, Flexible, Automated, and Zero-emission (SFAZ) vessels across European inland waterways. The document identifies key adoption barriers and enabling factors and introduces an agent-based modelling approach to evaluate how technology, policy, and stakeholder behaviour influence the transition towards sustainable inland waterway transport.
Lead beneficiary: VLTN
DownloadDeliverable D4.5 – SFAZ Regulation context, roadmaps, and policies v1 provides an overview of the regulatory, policy, and standardisation landscape for the deployment of Small, Flexible, Automated, Zero-emission (SFAZ) vessels in inland waterway transport. The document identifies legal and technical gaps related to automation, AI, and zero-emission technologies and proposes a roadmap for adapting European regulations to enable the safe and harmonised adoption of SFAZ vessels across Europe.
Lead beneficiary: ALICE
DownloadDeliverable D4.7 – Communication and Dissemination Plan outlines the FOREMAST project's communication, dissemination, and initial exploitation strategy. The document provides guidelines on project branding, communication tools, outreach activities, intellectual property protection, and key performance indicators to maximise the project's visibility, stakeholder engagement, and impact.
Lead beneficiary: Magellan Circle
DownloadDeliverable D4.8 – Communication and Dissemination Plan v2 updates the FOREMAST communication and dissemination strategy, providing partners with revised guidelines for promoting the project and engaging stakeholders. The document reviews communication activities carried out, outlines planned outreach actions, and evaluates the effectiveness of the strategy through key performance indicators.
Lead beneficiary: Magellan Circle
